Former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Prof Biman Prasad has pleaded not guilty to charges of failing to comply with statutory disclosure requirements and providing false information in a statutory declaration.
Mr Prasad appeared before Magistrate Yogesh Prasad at the Suva Magistrates Court this morning.
He is charged with one count of failing to comply with statutory disclosure requirements and one count of providing false information in a statutory declaration. The allegations relate to an incident that allegedly occurred in 2015.
It is alleged that Mr Prasad recklessly submitted a statutory declaration that omitted his directorship, rendering the declaration materially false.
The charges were read to him in English.
Mr Prasad is represented by Senior Lawyer Richard Naidu of Munro Leys, while Senior Counsel Joseph Works appeared for FICAC.
