MINISTER for Policing Ioane Naivalurua has urged police officers to stay focused on their duties and remain vigilant during this festive season.

Speaking to the officers during a Thanksgiving Church Service at the Centenary Church in Suva yesterday, Mr Naivalurua reminded officers to remain mission-focused and results-oriented.

“I want to urge you all to be keeping the main thing, the main thing, no matter what we do, we don’t ever lose focus on the task at hand,” he said.

“Our communities and families should be enjoying this festive season; you and I should be stepping up the notch at the frontline, we remain ready, we stay vigilant and we might not sleep at the frontline.”

Mr Naivalurua acknowledged the dedication of officers over the year and urged them to continue performing their duties despite challenges.

“These are testing times, but we need to continue to do our duty and should never step back,” he added.

He also called on officers to honour women and girls, highlighting the importance of addressing social issues head-on.

“We are here to honour our women and girls, we are always being pointed to these issues but let’s take it head on, we are tough as an organisation.”

He concluded his message by wishing all officers a safe Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

The annual service provided police personnel an opportunity to reflect on the year’s work, renew their commitment to community protection, and strengthen their faith in a spirit of gratitude.
