A DELEGATION comprising of FMF Group staff and Land Transport Authority staff recently completed a week-long Electric Vehicle (EV) training programme in China. In a statement, FMF said the visit marked a major step in Fiji’s preparedness for the fast-growing EV landscape and reinforced a strong partnership between FMF and the Land Transport Authority.
“The training delivered hands-on exposure to modern EV environments, focusing on capacity building in EV regulation — including inspection procedures, standards, equipment use and compliance requirements; technical and professional upskilling — practical sessions that enhance understanding of EV systems, diagnostics and safety; cross-cultural collaboration — strengthening ties between Fiji and China through knowledge exchange between LTA, FMF and leading EV training institutions; and global best practice sharing — ensuring Fiji stays aligned with international standards for EV inspection and regulatory frameworks,” FMF stated.
FMF is currently positioning itself to become a major EV dealer in Fiji and Pacific EV markets.
LTA vehicle examiner Avneil Kumar said, one of two LTA officers that were part of the delegation, said the training will help strengthen LTA’s technical capacity in EV “so we can better support LTA’s role in regulating and maintaining safety standards for these new technologies.”
