A dominant command by the Combined Brothers in their National Club Championship (NCC) pool match against Lami Rangers proved vital in earning them a 3-0 win yesterday.

The Brothers team’s efforts were pushed towards the victory with two goals by Amani Verebalavu and another by Dave Radrigai at the Fiji Football Academy grounds in Vatuwaqa, Suva.

Commending the side for their efforts on the pitch was team coach Varoon Karan, however, he admitted several blunders were prevalent.

“The boys played well, but they could have played better; I think they were too casual at times,” Karan said.

“A lot of times, they were a bit casual. We wanted to score a bit more goals, but unfortunately we didn’t.

“Plus, it was our first game in the NCC play-offs and we didn’t have much training as well.

“So, we can’t be too upset, but we are happy with the win.”

The side faces Friends United FC Nasinu in their next clash at 12pm today and Karan said there were areas to improve on before the match.

“Some areas that we need to do well in is our finishing, we need to work on our finishing, that’s the main one that we need to really focus on,” he said.

“And discipline, I think discipline let us down a bit but we have to sort that out before tomorrow’s game.”

The Combined Brothers FC is part of the Suva Football Association and one of its oldest, formed by players living in Samabula, Suva area.

They qualified for the NCC after a 10-year lapse.

The NCC continues today at the Fiji Football Academy ground in Vatuwaqa, Suva.
