Uso Tasi rugby club from the Solomon Islands made a strong statement, as they emerged victorious against Naiyalaya with a scoreline of 15-5 in their final pool match at the Super 7s tournament held at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka yesterday.

The team displayed exceptional fitness and skill on the field, challenging the local teams and earning their second win of the tournament.

The club owner, Carlwyn Tengemoana, who is also a former student of Marist Brothers High School, expressed his pride in the team’s performance, stating that the players gave their best and showed great determination.

He emphasised the significance of participating in a tournament of this caliber.

“The boys did their best on the field and showed determination,” said Tengemoana.

“Its great to come here to witness some great rugby action, getting a chance to play in this tournament is a big achievement for the boys, especially for exposer for the players.”

He adds under the guidance of their coach, the legendary Rupeni Caucau, the team had thoroughly prepared for the tournament and had a strong team spirit. Tengemoana commended the players for their hard work and dedication, and expressed optimism for the team’s future success.

Achieving a second win against top rugby teams in Fiji was a significant accomplishment for Uso Tasi rugby club, and Tengemoana expressed his pride and gratitude towards the sponsors and supporters of the team.

“Getting our second win with some of the top rugby teams in Fiji, is a big achievement, proud of the boys.”

He acknowledged the belief and support of everyone back home, which played a crucial role in the team’s success.

The side later defeated Fire rugby 24-19 in the elimination round.
