Vinod Patel and Home & Living, together with the Vinod Patel Foundation, have successfully concluded their month-long “Movember” campaign, an annual charity initiative is dedicated to increasing awareness of men’s health issues, including prostate cancer and mental health.
“Each year, team members from Vinod Patel and Home & Living come together to raise money for the cause, proudly supported by the Vinod Patel Foundation,” the hardware group of companies said in a statement.
“This year, a charity raffle was organised with the goal of donating $20,000 to the Fiji Cancer Society and St Giles Hospital.”
Home & Living chief executive officer Jatin Patel said in addition to the raffle, male staff grew moustaches throughout the month as a visible show of support and to further promote awareness of men’s health.
“It is more important to raise awareness,” he said.
“Often men do not talk about their physical and mental health issues due to social norms and we need to start discussion and take early preventative actions before it’s too late.
“Movember is an annual event for us and all our team members are always excited to be part of this.
“Growing a mo’ and showing off just so we can raise awareness. ”
He said they managed to raise just over $20,000, half of which will be given to the Fiji Cancer Society and the other half to St Giles Hospital.
“Vinod Patel and Home & Living remain firmly committed to promoting awareness of issues affecting the health and well-being of Fijians, and will continue to build partnerships and provide support wherever possible to advance this purpose,” Mr Patel added.
