The Chargé d’Affaires at the Chinese Embassy, Wang Yuan, says China is willing to strengthen economic and trade exchanges with Fiji and import more high-quality Fijian products.

He said this is one of three key opportunities that will shape China–Fiji relations under China’s 15th Five-Year Plan.

The first opportunity, Mr Wang said, is China’s commitment to high-quality development.

“The international landscape is facing profound and complex changes, but the Chinese economy is built on a solid foundation, with multiple strengths, high resilience and vast potential for growth, and the underlying upward trend remains unchanged,” he said at the embassy yesterday.

“China will fully leverage the advantages of its socialist system with Chinese characteristics, its mega market, its complete industrial system, and its abundant human resources, translating them into effective support for high-quality development.”

Mr Wang said this commitment will provide certainty and stability to the global economy and create predictable cooperation prospects for other countries.

“Recently, Fijian products such as Fiji water, kava, turmeric, noni fruit, and skincare products were displayed at the eighth China International Import Expo in Shanghai, further broadening the channels for Fijian products to enter the Chinese market.”

Mr Wang said China is ready to take the 15th Five-Year Plan as a new starting point to share with Fiji the opportunities for growth through high-quality development.
