Ovalau Roses dazzle to defend trophy

THE Ovalau Roses Netball team successfully defended their title at the Fiji Bitter Yalovata Lomaiviti 7s tournament at Nasau Park in Levuka over the weekend.

The team emerged victorious in the final, defeating Salad Bowl Fire Birds 25-13.

Under the leadership of team manager Joshua Ligavai, the defending champions showed their dominance by winning all their pool games.

Ligavai credited the team’s thorough preparation and readiness for the competition. Despite facing challenges such as adverse weather conditions and juggling university studies and work commitments, the players remained focused and united.

“Preparations for the competition was great and coming to the competition we were fit and ready,” said Ligavai.

“It has been a good competition so far, we won all our games, and leading to the final day we were ready for battle.”

He adds the players hail from various places, including Kadavu, Vanua Levu, and Ovalau, creating a dynamic and talented roster.

This diversity contributes to the team’s success and strength on the court.

Ligavai expressed gratitude to the team’s sponsors, families, and supporters for their unwavering support throughout the tournament.

He also commended the players for their dedication and hard work in preparation for the competition.
