THE Miss Fiji Pageant contestants will advocate primarily for issues that people in the municipalities face, says Nasinu Town Council CEO and chairman Felix Magnus.

Last week, the queen contestants were hosted by the Ba Town Council and also visited the town market, Ba Women’s Forum Training Centre, Ba Hospital and the Veilomani Boys Home. Mr Magnus said it was the first time the contestants met people in the different municipalities.

“We have been around the North in Labasa, and Savusavu,” he said.

“The treacherous weather that met us in Labasa, we had to sleep a night over in Labasa because the plane could not land to bring the queen contestants to Suva.

“These were some of the challenges we faced in the North.”

Mr Magnus acknowledged the Ba Town Council’s special administrators and the Ba Market Vendors Association for welcoming the contestants.

“We’re in Ba, and we have come through Nadi and Lautoka, we have come through Sigatoka, we have seen the issues that people face on the ground.

“And we have also listened to the people- your queen contestants have listened to them, and we’ll also advocate the issues the people of these townships face.”
