Acting Commissioner of Police Aporosa Lutunauga says the Police uniform must never be used for personal gain or to betray the public’s trust, as he ordered an investigation into an incident at the Navua Police Station that has gone viral on social media.

The video shows a Police officer kissing a woman inside the secluded part of the station.

Lutunauga described the allegations as serious and said immediate action was required.

“I have directed an investigation where appropriate disciplinary action will be pursued if the allegations are true,” he said.

He stressed that the Police uniform represents service and assurance to the public, and officers must never misuse the authority that accompanies it.

“The Police uniform is a symbol of hope and officers shouldn’t take advantage of the power that comes with it,” Lutunauga said.

“It is important for everyone to know that just because Police Officers have certain powers, they are not above the law,” Lutunauga said.
