FORMER Flying Fijians fullback Kini Murimurivalu has backed Fiji’s inclusion in the upcoming Nations Championships in 2026.
He believes the opportunity to play against the northern hemisphere teams will benefit the Flying Fijians from a more technical perspective.
“It’s good to rub shoulders against these northern hemisphere teams, there a lot of things we can pick up from them, like the set-piece and the territorial and positional plays, the northern team are really good in these areas,” he explained.
He stated Fiji’s win against England in the build-up of the 2023 Rugby World Cup as instances where Fiji adopted these northern hemisphere tactics.
He believes Fiji’s fixtures against the Six Nations teams in the Nations Championships help them grow the technical aspects of their games.
But he is calling on fans to trust the process and have faith in the coaches.
“It will take time, it’s a process we just have to be patient, like one of my former coaches used to say we didn’t lose today it was just not our day,” Murimurivalu said.
“The coaching staff know what they’re doing, they will be a lot of hiccups on the way, we just have to trust the process.”
