MISS Fiji Pageant chairman Felix Magnus says the contestants’ tour of the Western Division has been a success.

The tour began in Nadi and concluded in Rakiraki on Friday.

“Since the team bonding tour of the queens, I think we’ve garnered a lot of support from the business community and the municipalities,” he said.

Mr Magnus acknowledged the strong public reception across various stops.

“People have come out wholeheartedly to receive them in the different townships.

“When we came across to Viti Levu, we started our tour with Lami Town Council, meeting the people of Lami and then Sigatoka and then Nadi.

“We visited the Namaka market and also Mount St Mary’s Primary School. So, an overwhelming response from the people on the ground and that’s what we asked of the people.”

Mr Magnus said that visiting the markets was central to the tour’s objectives.

“The reason we’re bringing them to the market is because the market is the heartbeat of every town. Here, dreams and aspirations are born.

“Behind the produce stands a man or a woman that has sacrificed everything for their children.

“That’s why they come to the market early just to sell their produce so that they can put their kids through school, and they believe their kids can have a brighter future.”
