FORMER magistrate and legal practitioner Aruna Prasad has been appointed to the board of the Fiji National Provident Fund (FNPF).

Ms Prasad was appointed in June this year and brings a wealth of legal expertise and governance experience, FNPF said in a statement.

She is a qualified legal practitioner with more than 40 years of experience spanning private practice, public prosecution and the judiciary.

Ms Prasad holds a law degree from Victoria University of Wellington, and was admitted to the bar in New Zealand, Fiji and Australia.

Her professional journey includes serving as principal legal officer at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, as a magistrate in the Fijian judiciary, and director of the Legal Aid Commission.

She has also served as a judicial officer for the Tax, VAT, and ALTO Tribunals, reinforcing her deep understanding of regulatory and compliance frameworks.

With her strong background in law and governance, Ms Prasad is expected to enhance the board’s capacity for strategic decision-making and regulatory compliance.

The FNPF said her appointment reflected the Fund’s commitment to maintaining robust governance standards while advancing its mission to safeguard members’ retirement savings.

Ms Prasad’s appointment came into effect in June.
