A SOFT-SPOKEN Adi Alisi Uenavanua threw 45.69m to bag gold for Cakaudrove in the girls’ under-10 cricket ball throw at the 2025 Fiji Primary Schools Athletics Tuckers Ice Cream Games.

Uenavanua is a Year-5 student at Nabua Primary School and is one of the 125 athletes that is representing Cakaudrove at the Games.

She is not a stranger to this level of competition, given that she also competed last year and also won gold.

The Nabua villager was successful in her pursuit to win another gold at the 2025 Games by being confident in herself, her experience and focusing only on the voice that matters.

“My parents urged me to do my best so that it’ll be worth paying for the trip from Nabua village to Suva,” she said in an interview with this newspaper.

Like many athletes, she relied on divine guidance to steer her through.

“I was not scared because I have competed here before. I knew Jesus is with me in my event and I want to give him all the praise for this win.”

Salanieta Dreawelaca won silver with a throw of 41.11m and Luisa Disere of Macuata South settled for bronze with a throw of 37.80m.
