EXPECT the Fiji Golf Club’s 18-hole course to be a hub of activity this weekend as major events are lined up there for golfers to immerse themselves in.
This Saturday, a monthly medal golfing event will be held at the golf club in Vatuwaqa, sponsored by the construction and power infrastructure company Pernix (Fiji) Limited.
Registration begins at 9.30am on the day, with a shotgun start at 10.30am.
Interested golfers will need to pay $20 as an entry fee for the one-day event.
For this event, two categories will have prizes up for grabs; golfers finishing nearest-the-pin (NTP) on all Par 3 and golfers making the longest drive.
In the case of NTP on all Par 3, each golfer will need to hit their tee shot and ensure it finishes nearest to the flagstick (pin) once the ball rests on the green, at the shortest hole on the course and golfers must complete the hole in three strokes.
The player whose ball is nearest to the pin once all golfers have finished taking their respective shots, wins.
The other category where golfers compete for the longest drive, they will be judged on how hard they hit or strongly drive a golf ball the farthest, measured in yards.
Meanwhile, on Sunday, the golf club will hold a championship final for its members.
