Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro in Parliament yesterday – FIJI PARLIAMENT

The Ministry of Education has confirmed that more than a hundred primary and secondary school heads are still serving in acting roles, some for up to a year, as it works to finalise permanent appointments.

Responding to a written question from Opposition MP Hem Chand in Parliament yesterday, the Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro said the situation reflects the “substantial number of school leadership positions currently vacant.”

“As of 31 October 2025, there are 112 Heads of Schools acting in their roles,” the Minister stated.

This includes 96 primary school heads and 16 secondary school heads, all of whom have been acting “between three to twelve months.”

“The Ministry is advertising all vacant Heads of Schools positions, and we are working on finalising the appointments,” he said.
