FRA reports widespread road closures in Northern Division after heavy rain

The Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) has issued a safety alert following heavy rainfall that has left multiple roads and crossings flooded and inaccessible across the Northern Division.

In a statement today, the FRA said following the recent heavy rainfall, several roads and crossings are flooded and not accessible in the Northern Division.

All pedestrians and motorists are urged to exercise caution while travelling,” the FRA said.

A number of major low-level crossings and roads remain closed to traffic, including:

  • Qelemumu Low Level Crossing, Qelemumu Road, Wainikoro, Labasa

  • Narailagi Low Level Crossing, Narailagi Road, Seaqaqa

  • Konasami Low Level Crossing, Dreketilailai Road, Bulileka, Labasa

  • Zailav Low Level Crossing, Zailav Road, Batiri, Seaqaqa

  • Boca Loop Road, Bulileka, Labasa

  • Urata Low Level Crossing, Urata Road, Bulileka, Labasa

  • Boubale Low Level Crossing, Qawa Road, Bulileka, Labasa

  • Vunivesi Road, Nabalebale, Wailevu, Savusavu

  • Waidamudamu Bridge, Nakorotari Road, Labasa

  • Levuka Village Road, Nabalebale, Savusavu

  • Tabia Low Level Crossing, Tabia Village Road, Tabia, Labasa

Other areas remain partially accessible, with Nagigi Flat on Wainikoro Road open only to 4WD and heavy vehicles, while the Soasoa stretch remains open but with rising water levels.

The FRA is advising motorists to plan their travel carefully, avoid flooded crossings and expect delays as teams continue to monitor conditions across the division.
