Students from Kabara District School in the Lau Group visited The Fiji Times printing press yesterday after travelling by inter-island ferries to Suva for the Fiji Primary School Tuckers Ice-cream Games this week.

The group of 26 students, accompanied by 21 parents and five teachers, made the long sea journey to the Capital last week as part of a wider school excursion.

Principal Petero Kubunavanua said the trip was designed to broaden their outlook beyond island life and expose them to the opportunities available in Suva.

“The reason for this excursion is to enlighten the students and let them see the development in Suva, so when they go back to the islands, they will aspire to further their education in Suva,” he said.

The Fiji Times was one of several stops on their itinerary.

The students will continue their excursion tomorrow with visits to Parliament and other key institutions around Suva.
