FMF EV Cars has partnered with the Land Transport Authority to facilitate a specialised Electric Vehicles (EV) training program for selected LTA officers in China.
This is part of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed yesterday by LTA and FMF Foods Ltd, who is poised to become a major EV reseller in Fiji and the Pacific through its recent partnership with Chinese Yunnan Maimiao Auto Service Co Ltd.
The training program aims to enhance LTA’s capability to regulate and support the evolving EV landscape, FMF said in a statement.
Through the initiative, LTA staff will be equipped with essential technical knowledge and practical experience that will help shape Fiji’s future transport framework, it added.
“The training programme will enhance staff capability in emerging vehicle technologies, strengthen regulatory oversight, and support the development of a sustainable future transport system while equipping our officers with technical knowledge and practical exposure to EV operations, safety standards, and inspection processes,” LTA chief executive officer Irimaia Rokosawa said.
“Capacity building is central to developing national expertise in EV inspection standards, compliance processes, and maintenance protocols, areas necessary for long-term sector growth.
“This collaboration will enable knowledge sharing, strengthen technical confidence among officers, and ensure Fiji keeps pace with global advancements in transport technology.”
Key objectives of the partnership include:
- Building capacity in critical areas of EV regulatory framework, inspection procedures, inspection equipment usage, inspection standards and compliance processes.
- Supporting staff development through hands-on training and real-world EV exposure.
- Promoting cross-cultural understanding and collaboration between FMF, LTA and international training institutions.
- Sharing global best practices and innovative approaches to vehicle inspection and compliance.
