A total of 600 athletes participated in the Royals competition yesterday at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.

The event served as a preparation for the upcoming Fiji Primary Schools Athletics Tuckers Ice-Cream Games, which will take place next week Thursday and Friday at the same venue.

Antonio Raboiliku, the competition director, expressed his gratitude to various partners and sponsors involved in the event, including CK Easy Buy, Coca Cola, Athletics Fiji, and the Fiji Sports Council.

He emphasised the importance of providing a platform for primary school athletes to showcase their talents and prepare for the Tuckers Games.

“The competition today (yesterday) is just a heads up to the Tuckers Games, so we are concentrating on the Primary Schools athletes,” said Raboiliku.

“We also have to open events for our national athletes, because some of them have been training throughout the season.

“But all in all, it has been a good competition, especially for us in Fiji in the constitution it says every club needs to have a competition in a season, so for us doing the competition today (yesterday) I think it’s really grateful to help us as a club, and also the same time facilitating Primary Schools students.”

He adds the presence of athletes from different schools, including Kabara, Tailevu, and Nasinu, added to the diversity and competitiveness of the event.

With more than 600 athletes participating, the competition was deemed a success and a valuable opportunity for aspiring athletes to hone their skills.

Raboiliku extended his appreciation to all the districts, teachers, and officials who contributed to the event’s success, as well as to the sponsors for their support.
