The Soqosoqo Vakamarama Ra will return home as community leaders after completing a two-day Leadership and Strategic Business Planning Workshop, hosted by the iTaukei Land Trust Board in partnership with Kairos and Balance of Power.

The workshop serves to strengthen their leadership skills, governance, financial management and to inspire them to lead with vision, manage community enterprises effectively, and contribute to sustainable development in their villages and districts.

The iTaukei Trust Fund Board chief executive Aisake Taito, said by arming women with these key leadership qualities, they would get engaged in entrepreneurial ventures.

“By equipping rural iTaukei women with strong leadership qualities, they are also better positioned to participate in business and entrepreneurial activities,” Mr Taito said.

In the span of two days, women engaged themselves in sessions ranging from leadership training, financial literacy, good governance and entrepreneurship for sustainable development.

The women’s group president Salacieli Gasara Wong expressed her gratitude to the iTaukei Trust Board, Kairos and Balance of Power for their commitment in collaboration to deliver the two-day workshop.

She said such collaboration was crucial to building the capacity of rural women.

“It is about strengthening our leadership principles and skills, understanding our significant role as women in the context of the vanua, matanitu and lotu.”

“The group plans to continue holding similar workshops such as this to empower women and young girls in leadership, good governance, and economic development at all levels.”
