Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu left a happy man after the Police rugby team created history at Subrail Park with a 26-10 win over Army in the final of the 2025 Vodafone Ratu Sukuna Bowl.
The win means that Police now retain the Sukuna Bowl for the fourth consecutive year.
The heavens opened up during the final of the men’s game and Police took its chances by playing a solid defensive game and going for the three points which made all the difference in the end.
Despite the rain, the atmosphere at Subrail Park did not dent for a bit as people stayed glued to their seats and faithfully cheered on their respective teams.
Sakiusa Vosayaco and Akuila Dranivotua were the try scorers for Police and flyhalf Etonia Rokotuisawa was impressive off the kicking tee with two conversions and four successful penalties.
Army scored only one try through Player of the Match Osea Natoga while Malolo’s Skipper Cup winning flyhalf Douglas Daveta converted a penalty.
“First of all I would like to thank the commander RFMF for agreeing to the request that I made that we have to bring the Sukuna Bowl here to Vanua Levu,” said Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu.
“Congratulations to the Nasova boys, I think they delivered. I demanded no more, no less but a win, they delivered today and I thank them as well as the coaches and those that participated that enabled the team to win.
“I told them that this win is dedicated to the families, dedicated to those on duty in the maritime islands, out in our Police stations in the community posts and those that are serving abroad. I told the team that this win is for them and they delivered that today,” he said.
Both teams are expected to have a joint church service before they depart for Suva on Sunday.
Army will be hosting the Sukuna Bowl next year.
