Sukuna Bowl creates lifetime memories

The 2025 Vodafone Ratu Sukuna Bowl will go down in history as one of the most memorable ones for Army flanker and Fijiana captain Alfreda Fisher.

The Togo, Qamea in Taveuni trailblazer played her fourth Sukuna Bowl rugby match in front of her family.

She played a huge role in the team’s 25-23 win over Police in a tightly-contested match.

“This one means a lot because my parents are here and they get to watch me play,” she said.

Her mother, Maria Lewanuku Fisher along with her siblings and relatives were seated up at the stands, cheering loudly for the young Fijiana skipper.

“This is the first time for the Sukuna Bowl to be played in Labasa so we give the glory back to God for this win. This win is for all the girls in the RFMF,” she said.

Fisher who is in the Navy reflected on the last few minutes of the game in which Police was leading 23-22 and the words of reminder that proved the difference for Army.

“We were constantly reminded of what we needed to give back to the RFMF family, to our families here today and to our brother and sisters away on tour of duty.”

Fisher, Bitila Tawake, Nunia Daunimoala, Karalaini Naisewa, Carletta Yee, Merewai Cumu, Salaseini Railumu and Keleni Marawa are the national reps in the Army women’s team.

Sulita Waisega, Evivi Senikarivi, Jennifer Ravutia, Maria Rokotuisiga and Litiana Lawedrau are the national reps in the Police side.
