Petroleum and gas company Bluegas opened its state-of-the-art Oxygen Plant at the Blue Gas Terminal in Vuda, Lautoka yesterday.

The new Oxygen Plant marks a transformative step for company with the new investment designed to ensure a reliable and locally-produced supply of medical-grade oxygen – an essential resource for hospitals, clinics, emergency responses and critical care.

With this facility, Fiji reduces its dependence on imported oxygen and strengthens its capacity to respond to health emergencies and long-term medical needs.

According to the company, this investment reinforced its commitment to the country’s health sector, industry and national resilience.

It also emphasised the importance of national preparedness and sustainability.

“The initiative reflects Bluegas’ long-standing vision of contributing meaningfully to Fiji’s development and improving the wellbeing of communities,” the company stated.

Minister for Health and Medical Services Dr Atonio Lalabalavu officiated at the ceremony with chairman Hari Punja.

The company stated its partnership with the ministry reflected the strong relationship between the private sector and Government in strengthening essential services for the country.

It also acknowledged its ongoing collaboration with partners that made the project possible.

“The opening of the Oxygen Plant stands as a testament to innovation, commitment and the shared goal of supporting a healthier Fiji.
