THE 2025 Vodafone Ratu Sukuna Bowl is reaching its climax with the soccer competition happening today for the first time on Labasa soil.

This culminates with the highly anticipated main rugby match tomorrow which will determine who takes home the prestigious tanoa. Police, laced with numerous national and district football representatives have been dominating the soccer competition for a number of years now.

Hopes are high for the Akuila Mateisuva-captained side to continue their winning streak.

“The team is prepared well for them (Army). Even though everyone knows this is the first time the Sukuna Bowl has come to Labasa, I think both teams want the win to make history,” he said.

As rivalry brews, organising committee chairman, superintendent of police Jovilisi Leweniqila has given his words of reassurance that security will be the top priority in Labasa during the two days of competition.

In line with their efforts of fighting drugs, Leweniqila said security will be tight and checks will be done prior to entry at Subrail Park.

Looking at the competitions that have been completed so far, Army took out the Sukuna Bowl cricket title, touch rugby women and mixed, rugby development as well as the Service women 2 and the wives netball titles.

Police won the touch rugby men’s title, the servicemen 2 volleyball, wives volleyball and the rugby league shield.

Meanwhile, the main titles will be contested today and tomorrow in Labasa.

The soccer match will kick off at 11am today.

The women’s rugby match will get things underway tomorrow at 11am followed by the toast of the Sukuna Bowl which is the men’s rugby match at 3pm.
