THE Fiji Football Association has confirmed that Aiyaz Musa has withdrawn his Court of Arbitration (CAS) appeal challenging his disqualification under Article 46(6) of the Fiji Football Association (FFA) Statutes.

This means that the case is now closed and an award on costs will be rendered in due course.

Article 46(6) of the FFA Statutes prohibits individuals previously found guilty of a criminal offence from holding executive office.

In October 2024, Musa was jailed after pleading guilty to the importation Class B controlled drugs (pseudoephedrine – a key ingredient to manufacture meth) to New Zealand.

Following his release and return to Fiji, Musa contested for election during the Fiji FA Congress in May 2025 where he won majority of votes to occupy the vice-president west position.

His participation was permitted provisionally by the CAS, however, initially, the Fiji FA had disqualified his candidacy under Article 46(6).

Musa then challenged the prohibition at the CAS on the basis that his guilty plea, conviction and imprisonment cannot have an impact on his eligibility given that the offence was not related to football.

However, yesterday the Fiji FA in a release confirmed Musa’s withdrawal on the matter which means that in accordance with their Code of Ethics, all conduct and statements given in connection to the matter will now be reviewed.

Breaches found will be referred to the Ethics Committee.

The withdrawal also determines that the challenge to the decision of the FFA Governance Committee on May 27 as well as the provisional CAS order that allowed him to contest for election during congress have lapsed.

Fiji FA also clarified in the release that Musa was never declared elected.
