KADAVU Stallions head coach Etuate Nauro praised his players’ commitment and hard work after they defeated Sinukakala Women 24–14 to win the inaugural women’s title at the Yaro Chiefs 7s tournament at Churchill Park last Friday.

“It was all hard work and team effort that paid off.

“We thank Sinukakala for the great game they gave us they came back strongly in the second half, but our girls lifted their game to another level in that final minute to secure the win,” Nauro said.

Kadavu made a strong start in the first half, with Arieta Tonono crossing for two tries and Mereani Qoro converting one to give them a 12–0 lead at halftime.

They extended their lead early in the second spell with a try to Maraia Musu. Sinukakala responded with two quick tries through Lusiana Tinai and Livia Tubailagi, both converted by Viniana Lewarara, closing the gap.

But with a minute remaining, Matelita Bai sealed the victory for Kadavu with a decisive try.
