Two people have died following a serious motor vehicle accident along the Queens Road in Naboutini earlier today.
Police say the incident occurred when a vehicle allegedly veered onto the opposite lane and collided head-on with an oncoming car.
The woman driving the vehicle that crossed lanes died at the scene.
Her passenger was rushed to the Navua Hospital but later succumbed to her injuries, according to medical officials.
The driver of the other vehicle sustained injuries and was treated at the Navua Hospital.
Police investigations are continuing.
The national road death toll has now risen to 67, compared with 54 for the same period last year.
