THE Ministry of Education has already formulated Year 12 supplementary external examination papers for the compromised four subjects which were allegedly leaked from a secondary school in Sigatoka.

Acting permanent secretary for Ministry of Education, Pene Aropio assured Year 12 students that the situation would not disturb or change the timetable already given by the ministry.

“A break-in took place at the office of the school head and upon completion of the evidence gathered by the CID officers and site clearance by the police, they confirmed that one Computer question paper, Vosa Vaka-Viti question paper and answer booklet, one Chemistry answer booklet and one Technical Drawing question paper,” he said.

He added during a press conference at Senikau House in Suva yesterday that the principal of the secondary school breached a few standards of operating procedures in accordance with the Policy on Examination Assessment 2017.

He also said that the principal insisted with the Nadroga/Navosa senior education advisor for him to store the national examination papers in his office instead of the District Education Office.

“The Fiji Police Force was immediately notified, and an investigation has commenced to identify the individuals involved and to assess the extent of the breach.”

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirmed the report, saying an investigation was underway after they were notified by the principal.

The Ministry of Education has reiterated that it remains committed in upholding the integrity of the national examination system and ensuring every student in Fiji sits their examination under fair, secure and transparent conditions.

Mr Aropio also confirmed that the ministry is moving towards adopting a digital tracking system and stronger oversight protocols to ensure no tampering as part of their quality assurance procedures.
