THE 2025 Fijian Cup gears up for another exciting weekend as it hosts the inaugural Fijian Cup Oztag Tournament at Lawaqa Park tomorrow, culminating on Saturday.
In a statement, Assistant Tournament Director Nanise Tikoicina said the inaugural tournament is not just about competition, its about coming together to build a strong foundation for Oztag in Fiji, showcasing unique talents and celebrating the spirit of unity that defines the people.
“We are thrilled to have teams from various communities and backgrounds joining us for this exciting event where new friendships will be forged and the love of the game will shine through every match.
“To players this your moment to make history, play with passion, integrity and pride as you represent your teams and communities on this new and exciting stage. Thank you to our supporters and fans for being part of this journey with us,” Tikoicina stated.
The Oztag tournament will feature four categories: Naseigwane (Men’s), Vulau (Women’s), Veiwaki (Open Mixed), and Naviagwane (Masters).
Eight teams will compete in the men’s division, drawn into two pools.
Pool A includes Dream Team, Hunter Brothers, AFL, and Sigatoka, while Pool B features Real Ones, Hoodlegends, Eastern Saints, and Seabreeze.
The women’s division will see four teams Paraadice, AFL, Real Ones, and Laselase — battle for the title. The Open Mixed category has eight teams, while the Masters division will feature four teams.
