THE Republic of Fiji Military Forces soccer team is determined to end a seven-year title drought as they set their sights on dethroning the Fiji Police Force in the annual Sukuna Bowl tournament.

The team suffered a 6-1 defeat to Fiji Police in the final last year, but they are eager to make a comeback this year.

The RFMF last held the soccer title in 2018, and they are focusing on reclaiming the trophy this time around.

Team captain Epeli Saukuru is confident in their preparations, despite missing key player Christopher Wasasala, who is representing Fiji in PNG.

“We have a lot of new players this year, and we have been losing for six to seven years now. Our goal is to end that drought and come out victorious,” said Saukuru.

Facing a strong opponent like the Fiji Police, who have national and experienced players in their lineup, the RFMF team understands the challenge ahead.

However, they are focused and ready for the game, aiming to give their best performance on the field.

“We know the police side are very strong, they mostly have national players and experience players in their team, so we will be focused and ready for the game.

Key players to watch out for include Peniame Drova, Kolinio Sivoki, and goalkeeper Epeli Loganiceva.

The team is counting on their skills and determination to secure a win in the tournament.

Saukuru expressed his gratitude for the support from their families and the RFMF team and extended an invitation to all supporters to come and cheer them on in Labasa as they aim for victory.

The 2025 Vodafone Ratu Sukuna Bowl tournament is scheduled to take place from November 17-19 in Suva, before concluding in Labasa on November 20-21.
