A case involving a student sexually exposing himself to a teacher at a school in northern Tailevu was among incidents of violence and misconduct against teachers reported to Parliament this week.
Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro revealed the details while presenting data on teacher assault cases from 2023 to 2025.
Mr Radrodro, has confirmed that three cases involving assaults on teachers have been recorded so far this year.
According to the Minister, one of the cases involved a parent who allegedly assaulted a teacher at a school in Lautoka on July 23, 2025.
In another incident, a student assaulted a teacher in the car park of a school in Nausori, which was previously used as a technical college.
The third case occurred in Navua in February 2025, where a student punched a teacher inside a classroom.
Minister Radrodro also tabled data from previous years, revealing three cases in 2024 and one case in 2023.
The 2024 incidents included a student sexually exposing himself to a teacher in northern Tailevu in November, a verbal abuse case at a Navua school, and a physical assault in Lautoka after a teacher questioned a student about the smell of solvent.
In 2023, a student physically assaulted a teacher during an Industrial Arts class at a school in Ra.
