Partnership to strengthen banking service in remote Fiji

BRED Bank (Fiji) Ltd and Fexco Fiji have signed a partnership agreement to take banking services to enhance banking services in remote areas across Fiji. Under the partnership, BRED Bank will progressively install EFTPoS terminals across Fexco Fiji outlets to enable BRED Bank Fiji customers will be able to withdraw funds directly from their accounts at these locations, extending the Bank’s reach to more remote communities, the two companies said in a joint statement yesterday.

Fexco Fiji Pte Limited is the leading Western Union master agent in Fiji and operates in 20 locations around the country.

BRED Bank Fiji chief executive officer Pierre Tastet highlighted the strategic importance and wide-ranging benefits of the collaboration, adding that the initiative aligned with the bank’s goal of providing customers with seamless and accessible banking service and.

“Together, BRED Bank Fiji and Fexco Fiji are aligning energies to bridge communities and expand access to financial inclusion and literacy throughout Fiji,” Mr Tastet said.

FEXCO Pacific chief executive officer Christopher Wilby said the initiative is pivotal in allowing them to extend another secure service option to the people of Fiji.

“It represents our shared goal of improving financial inclusion and services affordable and convenient for all,” he said.

He said FEXCO Fiji can also facilitate direct transfers of remittance funds into customers’ BRED Bank Fiji accounts, offering a faster, safer and more seamless experience for Western Union money transfer recipients.

The two companies also aim to promote financial inclusion and literacy nationwide. The partnership agreement was signed at the Sofitel Fiji Resort and SPA in Denarau, Nadi on Monday this week.
