THE State has called for three separate tests on the 805.657 grams of methamphetamine allegedly found on two Chinese nationals.
Wang An and Xu Qiang are charged with possession of illicit substances found in 20 ziplock bags in the Western Division.
Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions John Rabuku said three raids were conducted during investigations, so at least three to four tests needed to be done.
The court heard this would mean the duo’s charges being amended to three counts of unlawful possession.
Mr Rabuku said the State could not serve the information before the tests because it would then be flawed. He sought 21 days to conduct the tests and file the correct information.
Rajshneel Chand, who is representing the two accused did not object, however, he requested that a Chinese interpreter be present on the next date to explain the proceedings to his clients.
In response, Justice Sekonaia Vodokisolomone said this was normally done during trial, however, he would need to confirm.
Mr Rabuku also sought time to consider the accused persons’ bail applications as the State would be able to confirm its position after 21 days but Mr Chand said the State had been given enough time.
Justice Vodokisolomone has adjourned the matter to November 26.
