NADI Sangam is the new winner for the Sangam World Cup after beating 2014 champions Lautoka Sangam 3-2 in the final at Churchill Park on Sunday.
Lautoka man Samuela Gavo Prakash was the player of the match for the green machine after scoring a hat-trick.
Nadi booked their final spot after beating Suva 2-1 and Lautoka defeated NZ Middlemore 1-0 to book their spot in the final.
Both teams delivered an entertaining final, following a 0-0 stalemate at halftime.
Early in the second half, each team scored to make it 1-1, before Lautoka struck again to take the lead.
Nadi quickly responded with an equaliser.
Nadi then lifted the momentum and Gavo scored the winning goal, sealing their victory.
Meanwhile, brothers Immanuel Moses Prakash and Samuela Gavo Prakash turned out for Nadi, while their sibling Simon Junior Prakash represented Lautoka.
Also starring for Lautoka were Raj, Shiva, and James Pillay, another trio of brothers.
Both sets of siblings hail from Waiyavi, Lautoka, where their fathers once played for the renowned Waiyavi Brothers Club before going on to represent Lautoka in age-group and district competitions.
The Prakash brothers’ father, Simon Anand Prakash, represented the Lautoka district between 1988 and 1998, and was known for his strong defensive traits for both the district and Lautoka Sangam teams.
