THE Vanua o Lawa is preparing to host a grand celebration for the Malolo Rugby team as they take the Skipper Cup to the island next week.

The coveted silverware is currently at the late coach Esala Nauga’s home in Nadroumai village, awaiting the call from the Tui Lawa for it to travel next week to Malolo island.

The trophy will be hosted by 17 resorts in the island including Seventh Heaven and Cloud Nine and will also travel to Malolo Lailai right to Tokoriki Island Resort.

Malolo Rugby president Ratu Jone Tuilawa confirmed the plans.

“Initially we didn’t have a celebration plan because we never expected to win the Skipper Cup. No one in the island expected us to win but we thank God for rewarding us with this sweet victory.

“Right now, the cup is at late coach Esala Nauga’s home in Nadroumai and we are waiting for Tui Lawa’s call for the celebration next week,” Tuilawa said.

Tuilawa acknowledged villagers of Nadroumai for their massive traditional welcome ceremony they hosted for the team as they took the silverware to their late coach’s home.

” Nadroumai villagers hosted us a huge traditional welcome and we were surprised for all the spread they prepared for us,” he added.

17 resorts ready to host.

“17 resorts in Malolo including Seventh heaven and Cloud Nine right to Tokoriki Island Resort with four villages in the island are ready to host the Skipper Cup,” Tuilawa added.
