The National Union of Workers (NUW) has announced it has signed a Memorandum of Agreement with FIJI Water executives yesterday resolving all claims relating to the recent redundancy dispute — including matters connected to the court injunction.

Two weeks ago, Lautoka High Court judge, Justice Mohamed Mackie had issued an interim order restraining FIJI Water from proceeding with the planned redundancies of its unionised employees.

“The Union and NWVL (FIJI WATER) Executives today (yesterday) signed a Memorandum of Agreement settling all claims relating to the Redundancy, including the Injunction,” stated a social media post by NUW.

No other details have been made public.

FIJI Water had planned to make 51 positions redundant as part of a proposed restructure.

Justice Mackie had directed that FIJI Water and its agents be “restrained from proceeding with the redundancy of union members and/or workers until the determination of this matter,” with the injunction set to remain in effect until November 10, 2025.
