Investing in education remains one of the most effective ways to build the next generation of the leaders of Lau, says the Tui Nayau, Ratu Tevita Uluilakeba Mara.

He said the Ratu Mara Education Trust Fund continued to uphold its founding purpose of supporting students from the province to pursue higher education and skills training opportunities.

“It is fulfilling its role, and we’re exploring how it can better serve our people,” he said.

Ratu Tevita said education was key to empowering young people and reducing reliance on urban employment.

“Education and skills training will help our youth stand on their own and bring development back to their islands.”

He said despite logistical challenges, education must remain a provincial priority.

“Our young people are our greatest investment.

“We must support them not only financially but by encouraging them to serve their communities.”

Ratu Tevita said the trust was exploring new partnerships to expand scholarship and training opportunities.

“We’re looking at how it can reach more students and respond to changing needs.

“That is how we build the next generation of leaders for Lau.”
