NINE military units convened at the National Netball Centre in Suva on Wednesday for the Republic of Fiji Military Forces’ (RFMF) Inter-Unit Netball, Volleyball and Touch Competition.

These included the Land Force Command, the Engineers, RFMF HQ, the Joint Task Force Command from Nadi, the Force Training Group, the Republic of Fiji Navy, the third Fiji Infantry Regiment (3FIR) and the Logistics Support Unit.

Changing weather conditions did not deter the military officers of various units, as they competed for victory and to earn a spot in the force’s final team for the upcoming Sukuna Bowl challenge next month.

Organising committee member Major Nanise Ralagi said the turnout of competitors this year had been a commendable one.

“We have seen a very good turnout from all units, they have been able to provide teams for all categories compared to last year where we had to work with less team than what we have today,” Ralagi mentioned.

“This goes to show the commitment, the efforts shown by each unit to prepare their teams to be here and be part of the competition.”

The inter-unit meet was also an opportunity to select players who will represent the RFMF at the Sukuna Bowl next month.

Competition this year took place at the netball centre while the touch rugby took place at Bidesi Park.

She highlighted the competition was held for only a day due to the demand of manpower from RFMF units across the country.

“We have ongoing taskings so we had chosen today to conduct all three competitions in order to select our teams.
