It was a proud moment for Fiji and the Oceania region as Fijian referee Torika Delai made her FIFA World Cup debut at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Morocco 2025, officiating the Group C match between Norway and Ecuador.
Delai became only the second Fijian referee to officiate at a FIFA World Cup, following Finau Vulivuli.
She led an international team of officials, including Natalia Lumukana (Solomon Islands) and Allys Clipsham (New Zealand) as assistant referees.
Fiji FA President Rajesh Patel said Delai’s appointment was “a moment of great pride for Fiji,” adding that “her achievement will inspire many young Fijians, especially women.”
Referees Director Avinesh Narayan praised her debut, saying she showed “great composure, confidence, and control.”
