Extra Futsal IDC champions Suva Futsal are set to represent Fiji at the prestigious OFC Futsal Men’s Championships League from November 16-23 at the Vodafone arena in Suva.

Coach Vivek Nandan said it’s a great honour for Suva Futsal to represent nation at the upcoming regional championships.

He said the game has made tremendous growth through the support of the parent body and Fiji was better prepared to take on the best in the region.

“From a coach’s point of view, we can see that we have bridged the gap compared to the two powerhouses New Zealand and the Solomon Islands. Before we use to get double figures straight up, now we are competing right until the end, just a few lapses in concentration and they just get ahead” he said.

He is confident that Fiji has the potential to be the regional champions in the next three to five years.

With their recent form, Nandan is confident the team has what it takes to win the competition.

“With the bunch of boys that we have, and their talents and team bonding and the passion they have for the team, with the right support from key stakeholders, I truly believe that we have what it takes to win the tournament.”

As a growing sport, funding is the biggest challenge for the team, Nandan has stated that they only have the capacity to fund themselves for local competitions.

He is calling on the support of fans and business house to assist them as they prepare to compete against the best from the region.
