DIWALI is a time to renew people’s faith in hope and unity, says Leader of the Opposition Inia Seruiratu.
While reflecting on the significance of the Festival of Lights, Mr Seruiratu said Diwali was one of the most significant celebrations in Fiji’s multi cultural society.
“It reminds us of the eternal message that light will always triumph over darkness and that good will always prevail over evil,” said Mr Seruiratu.
“During this festive period thousands of Fijians will light diyas, decorate their homes, share sweets and come together in joy and thanksgiving.
“It is a moment not only for celebrations but also for reflection to be thankful for the blessings we enjoy and to extend compassion, love and generosity to those who are less fortunate.
“The true spirit of Diwali lies in its message of togetherness and renewal.”
Mr Seruiratu urged Fijians to strengthen their bonds with each other.
“It reminds us that regardless of our backgrounds, beliefs, or circumstances, we are one people bound by our shared love for this beautiful country we call home.
“In this spirit I encourage all Fijians to take this opportunity to strengthen the bonds of friendship and understanding that unite us as a nation.”
