PM: We walk the talk

PRIME Minister Sitiveni Rabuka says his government is an example of one that walks the talk, one that listens, one that does not do lip service.

He was asked by The Fiji Times managing editor digital and Meet The Pess event moderator, Anish Chand, on Thursday whether his administration may have been giving lip service to the community.

Mr Rabuka said the press event in Ba was organised by the Fijian Media Association.

“It is not a government initiative, so we have taken advantage of it because it brings us face to face with the people,” he said.

“And of the people who turn up are those who are making things work or tick in your community, and we thank you most sincerely for sacrificing your evening to be with us tonight.

“We were in Tavua last night (Wednesday). We slept in the West and got back to Suva, and then to Navua this morning (Thursday) for a very important function.

“We went to do the groundbreaking for a businessman who is putting in a multimillion-dollar development for a service station, lube station and a rest area for truck drivers driving from the Western Division to Suva and those coming in the opposite direction.

Mr Rabuka said whether it was a groundbreaking, opening, or commissioning, “these are very important to local businesses and local businessmen”.

“That is an example of a government (that) actually walking the talk, and a government that listens, a government that not only does lip service.”
