Residents, staff, and guests gathered at the Pearce Home in Butt St, Suva, on Tuesday, October 7, for a heartwarming celebration that combined three special occasions — the International Day for Older Persons, Fiji Day, and Prophet Mohammed’s Birthday.

The event brought together the Pearce Home community, families of residents and partners to honour Fiji’s elders and mark milestones of faith and national pride.

The ceremony began with the cutting of a ribbon to inaugurate the Home’s newly completed office, a project made possible through labour generously provided by Westpac Bank.

The new space is expected to improve administrative services and provide a more comfortable working environment for staff and residents alike.

This was followed by the blessing of the newly completed Peace Garden — a serene space for reflection and relaxation, funded by the Fiji National Sports Commission executive chair Peter Mazey.

The garden stands as a symbol of harmony and gratitude within the Pearce Home community.

After the formalities, guests and residents shared a special lunch featuring chicken palau, donated by Maulana Fayaz Khan and the family of Aisha Learning Centre in Koronivia.

The meal also commemorated the Prophet’s Day, which was observed in September.

Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Mohammed Hassan Khan, extended his appreciation to all donors, volunteers, and well-wishers for their continued support in enhancing the wellbeing of Fiji’s senior citizens.
