Fiji Sugar Corporation chairperson Nitya Reddy has hit out at their political rivals who continue to make misinformed commentary on the sugar industry.

Speaking at an industry event in Lautoka last week, Mr Reddy said he would not hesitate to reveal the truth about some of these ‘politically motivated opportunists’.

“Regrettably though there are still politically motivated opportunists in this country and many of them have not even set foot properly in a cane farm who are masquerading as self-appointed demigods claiming to champion your interests in pursuit of their personal agendas and to revive their largely perishing political shelf life,” said Mr Reddy.

“They seek to question the relevance of your industry and the contributions you make to the livelihoods of hundreds of thousands of this country.”

He said they would not allow any more misleading commentary from these individuals.

“Let me be clear to them ‘you are merely a dispensable political piece of burden over who’s shoulders they want to run’.

“Their objective is to weaponize the vision and destabilize the industry.

“The noise that we hear from them on a daily basis through social media and through our news space has nothing to do with the promotion of their welfare.

“It is a desperate attempt at political restoration.”

“Let me remind these people that we will not hesitate to tell the truth about them and their history if they continue to peddle in their lies and mislead about you and us and the contributions you are making to the industry.”
