STRATUM Construction Rewa ended a 15-year title drought with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over RC Manubhai Ba in the 2025 FMF Inter-District Championship (IDC) final at 4R Stadium, Govind Park yesterday.

In front of more than 13,000 passionate fans, the two football giants delivered an intense and competitive match.

Ba made a strong start, with lanky striker Etonia Dogelau threatening early on but unable to convert his chances.

Rewa goalkeeper James Do’oro put on a stellar performance, making crucial saves to keep the game goalless at halftime.

The second half saw an even contest, but the pressure mounted for Rewa when defender Kavaia Rawaqa was sent off after receiving a second yellow card.

Despite going a man down, Rewa maintained their focus and intensity.

Their breakthrough came in the 76th minute when substitute Asivorosi Rabo was fouled inside the Ba penalty area.

Patrick Joseph calmly slotted home the resulting penalty to give Rewa a decisive lead.

Ba pushed for a late equaliser but their hopes were dashed when defender Praneel Naidu also received his second yellow card, reducing them to ten men.

This win marks Rewa’s first IDC title since 2010. Their last major tournament win came in the 2020 Battle of the Giants.

“It was all in God’s timing. I took over the coaching responsibilities in July and the journey has not been easy but we have managed to win the IDC. I thank everyone involved in our journey,” said coach and player Tevita Waranivalu.

Ba coach Joshua Wilson expressed pride in his team’s effort.

“I am super proud. A big thank you to all the fans who turned up in numbers and pushed the boys when we needed them the most,” said Wilson.

Rewa received $25,000 in prize money, topped up by another $25,000 from sponsors Stratum Construction.

Rewa president Nazeel Buksh confirmed the full $50,000 will be distributed among the players.

Rewa also scooped the individual awards with Do’oro getting the golden glove award, John Orobulu getting the golden boot award while Gabrieli Matanisiga got the best player of the tournament award.
