U.S. Secretary of State sends Fiji Day greetings

The United States Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, has extended warm greetings to the people of Fiji as the nation marks its 55th Independence Day.

In a statement issued from Washington D.C., Mr Rubio commended Fiji for its leadership in the Pacific and its partnership with the United States in promoting regional stability and prosperity.

“On behalf of the United States of America, I congratulate the people of Fiji as you celebrate 55 years of independence,” he said.

“For more than half a century, the United States and Fiji have worked together to ensure prosperity, peace, and security in the Indo-Pacific.”

“The United States appreciates Fiji’s regional leadership and commitment to our shared priorities, and we look forward to continuing our long friendship.”

Mr Rubio concluded his message by wishing Fijians a “prosperous and joyous Fiji Day.”
