HARD training and dedication have been the cornerstone of the Serua team’s success as they emerged victorious in the under-20 Vodafone Vanua Trophy final, defeating Taveuni 22-20 at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka yesterday.
The match, played under the scorching sun, saw both teams giving their all on the field, with Serua taking an early lead of 15-3 in the first half.
The second half of the game was a tough battle, with both sides fighting relentlessly. In the end, it was Serua who emerged triumphant, clinching the win in a closely fought contest.
Coach Beniamino Kakaivalu commended the players for their hard work and determination, stating that the victory was well-deserved.
He praised Taveuni for putting up a good fight and commended his team for their perseverance until the very end.
“The match was a tough one, Taveuni gave a good game, and I’m proud of the boys for pushing till the end to get the win,” said Kakaivalu.
“Coming to this final my message to the boys was to stick to our game plan from day one, going pass the quarter, semi-final and reaching the final was a not easy, but i thank the boys for their dedication and hard work during training that got us this win today (yesterday).
He expressed his gratitude to the players for their efforts and acknowledged that the win was a significant achievement for the team.
“I can say that this win is a big achievement for us, we came a long way, the boys really deserved this win.”
