AN Australian resident who allegedly assaulted a bus driver has been remanded in custody.
The accused, Tajini Vakaloloma, appeared before Magistrate Jone Bale in a special sitting at the Nasinu Magistrate’s Court yesterday for allegedly assaulting the driver three days ago.
Mr Vakaloloma is charged with one count of assault.
Social media posts showed Mr Vakaloloma parked his vehicle in the middle of a highway, got off his car, walked into the bus and allegedly assaulted the bus driver. At the court sitting, he asked Magistrate Bale to release him.
The police prosecutor objected to this and told the court that Mr Vakaloloma is a permanent resident of Australia and may not attend court cases.
