NURSES from all over the country had a chance to meet each other and have a fun day yesterday at different sporting venues in Suva, as they took part in the 44th Annual Fiji Nurses Sports competition.
The competition was mixed with different sports such as netball, volleyball, soccer, and beach volleyball.
It was a special day as three countries, New Zealand, Australia, and Palau, also participated in the competition.
Mereani Gavidi, the National Council Fiji Nursing representative from Aspen in Ba, expressed her excitement about the event.
She mentioned that the competition is an annual event that is held each year, with Suva hosting this year’s competition.
“There are 26 Fiji Nursing branches across the country, as well as three overseas branches that participated in the event from Australia, New Zealand, and Palau,” said Gavidi.
Gavidi noted that the level of competition and the number of participants have increased this year, indicating a growing interest in the event.
“The competition focuses on promoting health and fitness among nurses, as well as providing an opportunity for all nurses to socialise and have fun.”
She added the previous year’s competition was held in Naitasiri, where the nurses were graciously hosted by a rural community.
The nurses expressed their gratitude for the hospitality they received during their stay.
In addition to the sports competition, there will be a get-together tomorrow at the Vodafone Arena, providing an opportunity for all participants to socialise and enjoy each other’s company.
Gavidi thanked the Australian, New Zealand, and Palau Nurses for participating in the event and expressed her gratitude to everyone who took part in this year’s competition.
